The first ever Over The Next Hill Ride began on the courthouse steps on the historic Liberty, Missouri town square. On a hot and sunny Sunday, June 25, 2000 a group of 102 bikers left the square and hit the open road. The 82-mile Dice Run / Pledge Ride covered some of the best motorcycling roads in Missouri.
Thanks to local bands Lost Dog! and No Big Deal, the bikers enjoyed live music before and after the ride. Donuts, juice and coffee were served before the ride began thanks to the efforts of several of our corporate sponsors. The route took the bikers through Liberty, Kearney, Holt, Lathrop, Plattsburg and Smithville and included something for everyone with a bit of city street, a generous portion of two-lane blacktop and a touch of interstate highway. After the ride, bikers enjoyed a meal under the shade trees at Immacolata Manor.
More than half of the bikes from the Ride were entered into the free bike show after the ride. Prizes went to the top 3 places for People's Choice, Participant's Choice and Ladies' Choice awards. The ladies who live at the Manor talked for weeks before the event about choosing a favorite motorcycle for the Ladies' Choice Award. They were certain that a red one would be their favorite. Some of them may have been suprised to learn that their favorite was actually a turquoise Harley, ridden by a lady biker.
Ride day registrations, pledges and contributions raised over $4,600.00 for Immacolata Manor. A tremendous "Thank You!" to all who helped make the Over The Next Hill Ride for Immacolata Manor a success.
Here are some photos taken the day of the ride.
